Barbara Kingsolver Interview

"It’s reasonable for a teenager to resent any work that is assigned, so I will begin by saying 'I’m sorry. I know you probably have better things to do than read The Poisonwood Bible or The Bean Trees when you’re 15. Given that you have got
to read something for your English class, I hope this one will be a friend to you.' I have immense appreciation for high-school English teachers. I think they are the saints of this earth."

Summer Travel

School was out,
And students were stirring about;
Packing for trips and having fun;
Our summer had just begun.
Three teenage girls were packing bags;
For across the Atlantic deep,
Headed for Germany East.
Bailey was the first to arrive at the airport.
She was the best of people sorts.
Always nice and caring;
If something was ever needed, she was always sharing.
Bailey had long dark hair with blue eyes,
And always gave a happy, “Hi!”
Allie was next;
Rushed to the airport somewhat vexed.
Hair was messy in a bun;
Ready to begin this fun.
Bailey looked at me, pointed, laughed and said:
“Oh my! Allie, did you just wake up from bed?”
I looked down at my socks.
One was green and the other, color of fox.
“Oh well,” said I.
“They will get me by.”
Miranda was last.
How she wanted to have a blast.
Unsure what to bring,
It was decided to bring everything.
She came in the airport with two large bags,
Over stuffed with clothes and other lags.
Miranda tiredly walked in but with something to say;
Her mouth was continually on play.
She always wanted to complain,
So someone else would feel her pain.
And so the time was at hand,
For their trip was so wonderfully planned.
Passing security,
Rather hurriedly,
They arrived at the plane and took their seat,
Finally they are able to relax their feet.
The pilot said, “It is time to go.”
Three teenage girls were ready to begin the show.

Spongebob Prologue

There once was a group of friends und the sea,
Spongebob and company!
Patrick the star fish was spongebob's best friend,
He was oink, and round and soft in the head.
His green shorts and one tooth are all that he wears,
Confused and lost are all his affairs.
And Squidward the nasty lived right next door,
His plain ugly face was sure to be bored.
Six arms and all, he can't play the flute
But he sure will complain if something's aloof.
And Krabs is the boss they all answer to,
He lies, and he steals, it's all for the loot!
His greedy red pincers are filled with desire,
And a small one eyed enemy that has inspired
Plankton's a chum who is small and one eyed,
He schemes and he plots to get the design.
A burger some call it, a patty some might,
Delicious, and steaming, and filled with delight!
And Spongebob's the fry cook who makes it with pride,
He grills and he dresses as he takes it in stride.
And after a long day of work and some play,
Spongebob "is ready!" To go home and lay.
