Innercity Futurenet

For anyone that wants to go, Innercity Futurenet is a place where elementary school (and some middle school) kids in Central's neighborhood can go and hang out and do homework. It's a lot of fun, and the kids enjoy having "cool high school students" play with them and help them out. Rev. Gardiner (sp?) is in charge of it, and you need to call him to let him know you're coming the first time you go. The number is 370-9720. Call between 3 and 5. I go on most Wed. and Thurs. but the place is open Mon.-Thurs. and you can go between 3 and 6, although I've never been earlier than 4. Let me know if you want to go, and I'll show you how to get there, but it's literally a block away from Central and you're welcome to go without me if I can't make it. This was originally a Principal's Cabinet project, but any help will be welcome!

Rice Depot

The Rice Depot is a food bank where volunteers can come and package canned and boxed foods for hungry kids across the state. It's a great way for 10-30+ youth who like to hurl cans of green beans at each other to help out the community, so I've set up a date for Saturday, January 26. We can meet in the senior parking lot that morning around 10 a.m. and we should be done around 1 o'clock that afternoon and then we can go out for pizza or lunch somewhere. If you're interested just send an e-mail to darksmiles22@gmail.com with the words I'm in! and your name.
